The strong, witty woman - what most men say they want and most women admire. [Your favorite gender/sex qualifiers here]. Citing comic-book heroines as significant cultural references would be stupid, of course, and completely consistent with this web site's editorial policy. Worse, the idea came from elsewehere. So it's derivative stupidity, our core competency. Harper's Magazine ran a list of tragic (comic) heroines originating at Women in Refrigerators. Not to be out-stupided, eVcubed contraposes said list beginning with Mystique (the Goth gal above). For ennobling and sensible insight try Trina Robbins' piece at Image and Narrative. Or better yet, turn off the PC (once thru our list of Femmes Fortes) and hang out with your girl friend, girlfriend.
